Hazael moves to a new school for his junior year of high school with two goals in mind: leave behind his previous relationship that ended terribly, and focus on his mental health. He’s content being alone and staying a closested gay, but Bruno quickly brings Hazael into his friend group. At first Hazael thought Bruno was just showing common courtesy in befriending him, but as the two get closer Hazael begins to see that Bruno is actually lonely and has struggled to form lasting relationships with others. Hazael learns to open up to his new friends through a series of awkward school dances, parties, and academic struggles. And while he finds himself healing with his new friends, he can’t help but feel a stronger connection with Bruno, who also appears to feel the same way.
